Conflict Management
Mediation, negotiation and arbitration are examples of conflict management. This is a process whereby partners in conflict who often share common relationships are encouraged to develop mutual ground or a shared narrative, wherever and whenever possible. Ideally this is to attain a workable outcome that parties can live with to resolve their disputes.
At times partners in dispute may require the assistance of an impartial mediator or arbiter to achieve a sense of closure for all concerned. This process can be particularly helpful in situations involving groups such as:
- victims and offenders
- employers and employees
- teenagers and parents
- wherever conflict is seen to exist.
